What some of the trainees have to say about their experience at Skills 4 Holme:

" Going to S4H has made me feel more independent and given me confidence to tackle the odd woodworking/DIY task at home whilst making new friends. With support I have so far made a bird box, cat kennel, a gate to hide my wheelie bins and refurbished a couple of garden benches." DS

" I have been out of work for 5 or 6 years when Goole Job Centre referred me here. It's good - I'm learning new skills and I feel I'll have a lot better chance of getting a job."  AB

" I'm 19 and I've never had a job. Everybody wants someone with experience but how do I get it? I think this will be good experience - before I came here I couldn't even measure and cut straight!" M

" It is remarkable to see the change in people after even a short time.  I remember a young man who arrived and hardly spoke to anyone. When I visited he seemed reluctant to talk and was nervous. A few weeks later when I visited he came up to me, welcomed me, asked me how I was and wanted to show me things he had done. He clearly valued himself and what he was doing. What a change!  He now has a permanent job!" CF

" It's brilliant - I'm learning new things every day. I only managed to get odd jobs before. What I really want to do is get a van and go round doing garden maintenance for people. And I want to get into garden design - I really enjoy gardening and everything I'm learning here is going to be useful." MG

"  I was sent here by Beverley Job Centre. I did a year in engineering but I wasn't very good at it. Now I'm learning new things and I'm enjoying it." RB

" I've been out of work for a long time. I was referred by Goole Job Centre. I didn't really know what to expect but it's good." D
